Your Second Salesperson: What a B2B Website Should Do After AI Sends a Buyer
A second-salesperson website does what your best salesperson does, for every visitor, all the time: it recognizes who is visiting, guides them to the right next step in their own words, captures them with something useful, follows up on the ones who leave, and tells your team who to call first and who to let go. Your first salesperson can't be on your website at 2 a.m. when a procurement manager in Riyadh reads your capabilities page. Your second one is.
It is the third of three outcomes I work toward: AI Endorsement gets you named, the category source makes you the place your industry learns from, and your second salesperson turns that attention into deals. Together: become the company your industry learns from, and buys from.
The six things it does
1. Recognizes who is visiting
The company behind an office network, a returning visitor, someone who took a scorecard last month. On my own site, when a known company spends several minutes on an offer page, I get an email that same hour.
2. Guides them to the right next step
Not ten links. One next step that fits why they came and how far along they are: read this, score yourself, get your report, talk. On my site it's one box at the end of each page and a bar that keeps the step one tap away.
3. Speaks their language
A manufacturer's buyers don't "hire" them; they buy from them. My site uses the right words for the visitor's industry, shows example questions from their sector, and the assistant answers with the same words.
4. Captures them with something useful
A scorecard or a hand-checked report is worth a name and an email. On the website I built for Master English, the placement test brought in most new leads, and 60% of the people who took it clicked through their results email.
5. Follows up on the ones who leave
Not just abandoned carts: abandoned interest. Someone who read a product page three times, started a checkout and stopped, or asked the assistant a question and went quiet. Every morning the Master English system lists those people with a personal first draft for each. A person reviews every message before it goes.
6. Tells your team who to call first, and who to let go
Each known lead gets a score from what they actually did, recent actions counting more. Your team starts the day with the warmest names, and stops chasing the ones who were only curious. The score is a priority, not a prediction.
What it looks like with real numbers
On the owned website I built for Master English, over 30 days in September and October 2026: 1,018 unique visitors, 167 new people identified by email, and ChatGPT as the largest named source of visits. See the case.
What it is not
Not: a chatbot bolted onto an old site, cold automation that emails everyone, or tracking people who haven't chosen to identify themselves. It links activity to a person only after they identify themselves, respects the browser's Global Privacy Control signal, and says so plainly in the privacy terms.
